Silvia Martínez Rivas / KutiSilvia Martínez Rivas (Madrid 1967), Graduated in Biology Science, started her photography work many years ago. She is daughter and sister of artists. Silvia Martinez (KUTI) communicates the simplicity of people, landscapes and places along her restless search of remote and different things.

KUTI lived in Havana City, Cuba, for 10 years (1998-2008), where increased her passion for photography and created with her camera innovative images of Cuba. KUTI captures silent realities, strong and at the same time tender images, sometimes landscapes full of light, and dramatic sceneries in others. Beloved passionate of the lights of Cuba, Silvia offers touching images, moving glances.

She also shares the most beautiful expression of the city of Havana, of its lights, its traditions, of the people of the city which role may be lost in an inexperienced eye.

In her first exhibition “…. ONE TIME” she display her art for the first time to the public eye, surprising the spectator with the substance of the artwork and the original approach to exhibit it.

In the exhibition “BETWEEN STREETS”, KUTI get close to the people of Havana City and evolves, in her search of innovation and originality, from the paper to the canvas and the aluminum as printing materials.

Her work  was published in the most cutting-edge  magazines of the Cuban art and Cuban trends and her images were the object of several radio and TV reports.

In 2007, KUTI started a documental work about the historian Eusebio Leal and Old Havana: “ LEAL ON TIME” including the documental making off and still photo. Therefore, happened the exhibition in Casa Lamn, Mexico: “FOLLOWING EUSEBIO´S PATH” in November 2007.

Thereafter KUTI continues to exhibit her images in Madrid, Miami and New York City. Her artwork have received the attention of Cuban and foreign private art collectors and art funds. KUTI currently lives in Miami, Florida.

Kuti’s arrival in Miami became a turning point that will reflect in her art. Her involuntary longing for Cuba and nostalgia will soon make her understand her impediment to see clearly. With refreshed eyes Kuti contemplates a city without expectations and starts to notice Miami Beach’s Lifeguard Post in the beach.

That will lead her to photograph its simplicity, color choices, creating a collection that will form a series of mosaic using the technique of mixed media (paper, bamboo and resin).

With this work, Kuti embarks on a new phase of what will be marked as the launching point of her next ventures and with the colorful Lifeguard Post as a new doorway of what has just began.
